The Rhyming Alphabet

Rhyming Alphabet Pairs:

  1. A, J, K

    • These letters all have an “ay” sound at the end.
    • Example words: Apple, Jump, Kite
    • Pronunciation practice: “A, J, K — they all say ‘ay’!”
  2. B, C, D, E, G, P, T, V

    • These letters have an “ee” sound at the end.
    • Example words: Ball, Cat, Dog, Elephant, Goat, Pen, Tree, Van
    • Pronunciation practice: “B, C, D, E, G, P, T, V — they all end in ‘ee’!”
  3. F, L, M, N, S, X

    • These letters have an “eh” or “ess” sound at the end.
    • Example words: Frog, Lion, Monkey, Nest, Snake, Fox
    • Pronunciation practice: “F, L, M, N, S, X — they’re different but have a cool ‘ess’ or ‘eh’!”
  4. O

    • This letter stands alone but has an “oh” sound.
    • Example word: Octopus
    • Pronunciation practice: “O says ‘oh,’ it’s all on its own!”
  5. Q, U, W

    • These letters end with a “you” sound.
    • Example words: Queen, Umbrella, Water
    • Pronunciation practice: “Q, U, W — they all say ‘you!’”
  6. R

    • R stands alone with a unique “ar” sound.
    • Example word: Rabbit
    • Pronunciation practice: “R is for ‘arrr,’ like a pirate!”
  7. Y

    • Y stands alone with an “y” sound.
    • Example word: Yellow
    • Pronunciation practice: “Y says ‘why,’ all on its own!”
  8. Z

    • Z stands alone with a “zee” sound.
    • Example word: Zebra
    • Pronunciation practice: “Z is zee, and it stands alone too!”
